Financial Analyst

Department: Accounting and Finance
Location: Miami, FL

SUMMARY

The Financial Analyst will report to the Senior Vice President of Finance and partner with the Development team throughout the acquisition and development process. The position will work across HTG departments to advance new projects through all stages of development, with particular emphasis on financial modeling, underwriting, and the structuring of equity and debt with large financial institutions.

Our Financial Analyst position is a salaried position that requires investment of time and effort beyond a traditional work week.

The ideal candidate brings sound financial judgment, a strong work ethic, and a desire to grow within real estate finance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Financial Analyst's duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Build, maintain, and update financial models for prospective and active development projects, including sources and uses, cash flow projections, and return analyses
  • Lead regular forecasting and budgeting, including variance analysis against projections
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative due diligence on prospective real estate investments, and monitor the financial performance of current investments
  • Support the underwriting and structuring of equity and debt with financial institutions, including tax credit equity, construction loans, and permanent financing
  • Prepare investment memos, financial summaries, and presentations for senior leadership and financial partners
  • Manage project accounting, including tracking project budgets and supporting draw requests
  • Coordinate the preparation of pre- and post-construction insurance binders
  • Serve as a point of contact for equity investors and lending institutions
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses, and assist with special projects as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION (OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE)

  • 2-4 years of experience in financial analysis, real estate finance, accounting, or a related analytical role
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, real estate, or a related field required, or equivalent practical experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel required, with demonstrated experience building financial models and applying time value of money concepts (NPV, IRR)
  • Experience in real estate development or affordable housing finance preferred

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to translate financial data into clear recommendations
  • High attention to detail with a disciplined, organized approach to work
  • Resourcefulness, with a proactive approach to identifying problems and proposing solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and with external partners
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting financial information to senior leadership

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
